Theatre 503

events and projects

503Five – The 503Five is a group of five currently unproduced playwrights, selected from two hundred of the country’s most exciting voices. As recipients of Theatre503′s first ever commissioning awards, they will be resident with us for a year, writing for us, learning with us and inspiring us. They are Richard Marsh, Rex Obano, Lou Ramsden, Nimer Rashed and Beth Steel. Short plays from the 503Five have been staged as part of All I Want For Christmas and Decade. In January 2009, Rex Obano was the first of the 503Five to have their full length play produced at Theatre503 with his play Slaves.

Writers’ Nights – Theatre503 holds regular Writers’ Nights during our main house productions. Playwrights can benefit from reduced tickets to the show and meet other writers and members of the team. To get onto the mailing list for writers’ nights, please first submit your work to us.

Rapid Write Response – At the beginning of a show’s run we invite playwrights to see it and submit to us their own responses to the play on stage. From these submissions we choose a selection to be performed as script in hand readings on a Monday night towards the end of the run. The next Rapid Write Response night will feature responses to Jay DiPietro’s Peter and Vandy, and will be on Monday 15th March at 7.45pm.

Foundations – Foundations nights are an opportunity for playwrights to try out new material in front of an audience and are programmed on Sunday and Monday slots in the calendar.
To get onto the mailing list for Writers’ Nights, Rapid Write or Foundations please first submit your work to us.
